Maggiore Lake
In the place where the plains of Lombardy slowly rise to create Alps there is a land with many lakes that belong to the favourite destinations of more demanding clients. Lago Maggiore is the most beautiful of these lakes and it is 65 km long. In the summer season it has no lack of tourists, as it fulfils the expectations of valuable holidays. The main tourist spot of the lake is Stresa town.
Residence DEI FIORI ***
Modern Residence Dei Fiori is located in the center of Baveno, 50m from the lakeside promenade and a small port, where it is possible to make trips to the Borromeo Islands on the lake "Lago di Maggiore. Near the residence there are shops, restaurants and supermarket.
Stresa is situated 80 km northwestern from Milan and lies on the western shore of the Lake Maggiore. Borromeo islands, located in the Lake Maggiore, are a favourite touristic destination. For literature fans it would be interesting that Ernest Hemingway spent a part of his life here. Funicular to Monte Mottarone is a popular attraction, moreover there is a botanical garden focused on rock-plants in one of the stations of funicular. There are several touristic and biking routes on the top of the mount. Even in winter it is possible to ski on moderate pistes.
The Borromeo islands are well accessible from Stresa and Baveno by boat. The most beautiful Borromeo islands are Bella, Madre, Pescatori and San Giovanni. Some of the most interesting sights on the islands are Palazzo Borromeo, Palazzo Madre, Temple of San Vittore.
