Mesto je bohaté aj na umelecké pamiatky a staré budovy, pod moderným vzhľadom sa ukrývajú nespočetné paláce a galérie. V centre Milána sa zorientujete ľahko, začnite prehliadku na námestí Piazza del Duomo, kam sa dostanete peši, taxíkom alebo metrom (La Metropolitana), pozrite si milánsku katedrálu zvanú Duomo, ďalej najslávnejšiu svetovú operu Teatro alla Scala.
Miestnu dopravu budete potrebovať k návšteve jedinej veľkej pamiatky, ktorou je „Posledná večera“ Leonarda da Vinciho - obraz patrí medzi najslávnejšie umelecké diela sveta. Urobte si aj jednodňový výlet do starého lombardského mesta Pavia, cca 38 km od Milána a severne od mesta na ceste do Milána stojí Certoza di Pavia - najkrajší kartuziánsky kláštor v Európe (dala ho vystaviť milánska vládnuca stredoveká dynastia Viscontiovcov). Návštevu tejto národnej pamiatky možno uskutočniť s povolením dozorného úradu v Miláne, pred kláštorom je výborná reštaurácia.
