Šibenik is developed somewhat in the shadow of Zadar and Split. Nevertheless, belongs to the most beautiful cities in the whole area of the eastern Adriatic. Already location at the mouth of the river Krka in ideal sheltered bay is interesting.

The most important building in the old town is certainly the Cathedral St. James, which is in the city center and near the coast. Northeast from Cathedral lies Square of Republic of Croatia. Šibenik is literally surrounded by old forts: St. Ana, Sv. Ivan, Sv. Nikola and Šubićevič. The city doesn´t lie near open sea and doesn´t has good facilities for bathing. Nearest recreational area is a peninsula Zablace with many hotels, campsites and sports facilities. Small islands Krapanj, Prvic, Zlarin, Kaprije Zirje are popular places for trips.
