Kvarner > Krk - island Krk

The biggest Croatian island, which is connected to the mainland by an interesting 1.9 km long bridge. The island has many natural beauties, rich history, traditional cuisine, great opportunity for the cycling paths, and provided especially rich tourism history. Najúrodnejšou and most densely populated part of the island is the north coast. Most of the coastline here is steep and rocky with small beaches.

The eastern coast is completely different, due to strong winds, which are fúkajú, causing a harsh stony character of the country. East coast is steep and inaccessible. Magnet on the island as well as the historic city centers or Krk Baska.

Part of the island most visited by tourists is south and west coast with towns Baska, Krk, Malinska, Njivice or Omisalj.

The capital of the island of Krk town, is situated on a small peninsula, which lies in the historical center surrounded by walls. The main building is a monument of Marian Frankopanska cathedral and castle with cylindrical towers. Major urban beach of small pebbles can be found in the bay Dražice about 1 km from the city center of Krk. Other beaches are mostly rocky with concreting surfaces.
