Central Dalmatia > Gradac
One of the last major and living towns of central Dalmatia is situated about 14 km from the town of Ploče and the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is situated at the end of the mountains Biokovo, near the river mouth of Neretva, giving the typical Mediterranean character. On south of the harbor there is a beautiful Gornja Vala beach, which is the longest beach of Makarska Riviera. Along the beach there is a quayside promenade with palms and oleanders.

The city is also an excellent starting point for excursions to the islands of Hvar, Korčula, the Pelješac to Dubrovnik or Medjugorje.
On the halfway between Gradac and Ploce is interesting karst Bačinske freshwater lake which is formed by bringing together a series of six lakes and the sea are linked by artificial channels, which gets into the lake and salt water.
