The southern part of the Apennine peninsula with beautiful
nature and mostly mountainous countryside with clear seas and clean
beaches. The temperature in May and June is about 30 °C and in July
and August 40 °C.
SCALEA - one of the biggest and oldest towns in the area of Riviera
dei Cedri. Scalea is divided into two parts: Scalea Vecchia - the
old part of town - is located on a hill with a Norman castle, narrow
alleyways and churches and Scalea Nuova - the new part with many
hotels, shops, bars, coffee bars, discotheques and other cultural
and sport settings. Every Monday morning there is a market.
TROPEA is one of the most visited places in Calabria that lies between
the bay of St. Euphemius and Gioia Tauro. There are many historical
monuments from the Greek-roman period, for example: The Norman Cathedral
from the 11th century, St. Maria church, St. Francisco from Assisi
church and many another churches, chapels and palaces, which creates,
together with narrow alleys, the character of the town. Also the
many entertaining pubs and restaurants with local specialities,
the clear sea and beaches with white sand double the atmosphere.
BRANCALEONE is a picturesque town in the southern part of Aspromonte,
60 km from the former capital of Calabria - Reggio di Calabria and
60 km from Sicily. It consists of the coastal part with its coffee
bars, bars and tropical restaurants and of the historical centre,
which lies about 3 km from the coast. There are only ruins left.
In this area, there is bergamot being grown - it is a subtropical
tree, which is used in the food and the perfume industry. However,
this aromatic fruit is also being used for producing a local liqueur
and bergamot oil that is effective for healing various ailments
